preaching to yourself
Have you ever preached to yourself? Weird question isn't it - or for many not so strange. It's normal for people to want to hear good preaching from people, but this is one recurring problem that i've encounter myself. When we hear a good message being preached to us - true for that moment you feel something amazing in you. You feel that you've been "touched" by the message. You feel that you want to change. But the moment we start going to the real world - this is where the message that "touched" us is truly tested. This is when we are tested. And often times situations makes us forget about those messages.
This is one solution that i've found to solve this ever occurring problem, which is - rather than trying to look for the "best" preacher to tell us what to do. To tell us what we need to think and believe. To tell us what is wrong and right. Have we ever try to preach ourselves?
This is one thing that i do believe: That God is always there. He will never leave us. He's always here in us - helping us to understand, to apply what we've learned. The preaching that i meant is listening to God. the preaching that i meant is telling us to start applying what we've learn into our life - practically!
We can never have a pastor to be with us 24/7, but we always have the BEST helper with us. The Holy Spirit had been given to us for a purpose- not just for decoration - or as an add on. When we say we can't do something maybe it's time to let the Holy Spirit that is in us to help us - to give us strength to preach to ourselves and say no to sin.
