thought of the day #4 - idol
Who is it that you idolize at the moment?
Have you ever heard of the saying "be careful of who /what you idolize"?
Guess not, cos it's rarely mentioned... or even noticed...
But here's something that i've learned during these past weeks. That is God will take away anything that makes us shift our eyes from Him. Sounds mean eh? But that's true. Why? Because it's God's gracious way of keeping us safe and alive.
God knew that if ever we idolize anything more than Him as a whole (not just a part of Him), it will make us fall into the same trap that we once were in. it will certainly brings us to the path of death without relising it. that is why He takes it.
This is interesting cos' it's related to the reason why we should always pray. Because when we pray, we are kept accountable and true to Him, the giver and maker of things. When we don't pray we stray away - and creations and its demands will consume us and our being- instead of God's grace and love. When we pray we admit that these things we posses are His - He's the maker of it which means that He's greater than all these things that we have.
So next time - when something is taken away from you and you feel angry and disappointed about it - maybe God is trying to say something important to us. ask yourself Why does it hurt so much when it's taken away from you? and in the process THANK GOD for taking it away from you. Because it's a sign that God still loves you! He's there watching your every move and guiding you to the place where He wants you to be.
PRAISE BE THE LORD OUR GOD - HOLY, HOLY , HOLY IS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY
