Ss musings

YesterdaY we were playing a game of Chinese whisper during SS; boys against girls. One of the kid in my class don't want to join in the game, he thought that doing things on his own is more interesting than playing chinese wishper, so i let him be.

As the game almost ends, he noticed that the boys were loosing, some of the boys were not that good in spelling, and this made that boy stressed. As a boy himself, he hates to see the girls winning and taking the glory, so he decided to take things into his own hands.

He forced himself into the game - without telling the boys. Obviously, he wasn't going to get any turn - because no one noticed/realized that he was actually in the game.

So he started to get frustrated and he got angry at the boys. The other boys said to him "If you want to play with us, you have to tell us and play by the rules."

Anyway, from this whole incident - i learned 1 very important thing - PLAY BY THE RULES. How can we impose what we want upon others and ask them to accept us, if we are not willing to accept them and patiently listen to what they want.

That is the case for most of my ministry experience i think - too often, me myself - am not willing to listen to the person that i serve - but i always impose my ideals upon them. And that is never going to work especially if we are working with other sinful humans just like ourselves.

Which the Holy Spirit constantly reminded me of this verse (lately) from Col 3:12-17:
12Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
