God's requirement of a leader

1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,[a] he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

11In the same way, their wives[b] are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
(1 Timothy 2:1-13)
What does it mean to be a leader for God's people? This question has been bugging me quite a while now. Seeing my own role as a leader and as a member of God's family, i began asking, what does it truly means?

here are a few things that i've noticed about being a leader, some are wrong - some are right:
- a leader of God's church means being God on earth
- a leader means to be God's representative on earth - second to God
- a leader needs godly characters
- a leader needs to love God ultimately
- a leader needs the ability to be a leader
- a leader needs to be approved by his/her follower
- a leader needs to be able to bring the group to achieve the goal
- a leader needs to be competent
- a leader needs to be passionate about his/her role

Those are just points that i've thought about now. I'm not sure why i'm writing this post but lately i've been seeing the importance of having a leader and picking the right leader.

I know that throughout the OT, the role of a leader is very crucial. If you read the book of Kings, you can see that the characteristics of the nation is defined by the very characteristic of the king that was reigning at that period. Godly king resulted in goldy kingdom and godless king leads to the destruction of the kingdom.

The role of a leader is an important one. Taking that concept alone, we can see that a leader do have a certain responsibiility to bring the group that he/she is leading to a certain goal. Whether they want it or not, what they do affects what the group will be.

A lazy leader , though one might not realise it - resulted in a lazy and unpassionate and unresponsive follower.
A passionate leader will result in a passionate group.

A leader truly holds the power to shape what the group will become. It's an amazing privilige and role that God has created for us. Even History outside the Bible records of the value of a leader. Leaders such as Hitler, Julius Caesar, Buddha, Mohammed. They prove one man is able to make a big and lasting impact on the world once they grasp a hold of that leadership role.

Why is that? How can one man able to make 50000 other men to do the same thing? It is because the 50000 men had entrusted their whole mind and heart to that very leader - to the point of willingness to die for that one man. A leader is often able to shift his follower's selfishness for his own advantage.

and this post is to be continued... cos its too late at night and i want to sleep... hohohohoho... i still need to rethink about how i can properly express what i want to say regarding leadership
