a tragic Christmas

“A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.” Matt 2:18

The first Christmas wasn't simple, it was tragic. It started with a divine conception which must've sounded so absurd to many
A rocky relationship due to such pregnancy
A long arduous journey in the third trimester (I can't even imagine!).
No place to stay to sleep let alone give birth.
Followed by the death of many children due to a jealous king

The presents
The lights
The parties
The food and all the festivities
They all mask the true joy and gift that is Christ' birth

Even without all of those, Christmas is joyful because Jesus came to give light and life to those who follow Him

The parties won't last
The gifts will break
The festivities is but a moment
The gift of Christ is eternal
Not just a month in a year
But every single second of our lives depended on it
