2020 Xmas reflection

Think of the stinkiest, dirtiest barn
Full of poos and animals stuffed together
In one of the busiest day of .... Ever!
This was the condition in which the Lord was born

Not in a quiet place on top of the hill with a star on top

It wasn't clean
It wasn't comfortable
There was nothing nice about it

At a time of oppression and suffering

That is why we celebrate this birth
Not because of the gifts
Not because of the parties
Not even because of the family gathering
It's because this world was so desperate and still is
So broken
So desperate
So hopeless

As you celebrate Christmas this year remember it was never about the sparkling, expensive, sanitised celebration and useless presents that we receive that give us joy.
It is simply because the King of the Universe, Maker of all decided to enter into the ugliness and brokenness that we may have hope.

Your holiday plans might be cancelled
You're forced into 14 days self isolation by yourself
Or your family gathering postponed
Grieve those losses but remember how much more it broke His heart when we forget the true hope and replaced with with plastic Santas and mere Xmas lights.

Take time this year to stop
Think and reflect
Enjoy and bask in His glory and grace
The true light has come to give hope into the world
Praise God
