places...
Today, during prayer meeting, the one giving the reflection mentioned to us one interesting thing to think about. That is about places.
Apparently just before the Bible reflection, they asks ppl to give testimonies, and one person came up and shared about how he missed the mardi gras last sat. The point of his testimony was right - that is that we should not support such thing and pray for them - but there is one thing that he keept on mentioning and that is how much he regretted NOT going and seeing the mardi gras.
The person giving the reflection - wisely, reminded him of something that is very important. Is that attending such events or places IS a proof that we support such thing. He gave a unique example from sodom and gomorah. He challenged us - what happen if we happen to be in sodom and gomorah at the time God choose to punish them? Won't we die together with the ppl in it?
He reminded us that the places that we go to is important. Although it may seem like a small matter but going to places that are not pleasing to God in a way is a sign of our rebellion against God's will. If we want to meet sinners -we can go to other places where those sinners usually go to - NOT in places where they sin.
It's important i think.
I was just thinking of a friend of mine. A person who holds a leadership position in the church - and still goes to clubs with friends - for reasons that, the person don't want to totally disconnect him/herself with the world - afraid that if he/she does he/she might loose his/her chance to share the gospel with sinners.
now... is that really a valid reason to keep on "supporting" these places?
i dunno
any suggestion ... do tell me
