Who is your God?
Lately, this question was given to me by the Spirit through the many things and people that surrounded me. First through the book that I was reading, then through a brother from YG, and from a sermon.
Who is MY God?
I've never asked this question before or even think that such question should ever be asked. I know who is SUPPOSED to be my God. but as Romans said "Although they knew God, they did NOT treat Him as God". And that is who i was before i knew God and can it still be who i am after I knew Him?
I can never say that some passages in the Bible are specifically written only for a certain group and never applies to another - especially in terms of sinners and saints. Romans - a book written for Paul's evangelistic mission to Spain, explaining extensively about the Gospel- can Romans be written only for sinners and not saints? Can those things written for sinners NOT apply to saints anymore?
The real question is WHO ARE the saints?
That particular verse in the Bible - "For although the knew God - they did not treat Him as God". Who was it written to? sinners or saints?
I believe it's both- because the moment saints "realises" that they are "saints" they becomes more evil than who they were before. That is why Jesus continually reminded His disciples to be humble and to repent.
Anyway, that was off topic.
My question is who is your God?
I've never realised this (or not as strong as this) before that depression came about when the "god" whom we've been clinging to all these time failed us and even worse left us. Depression happens when all our "security" is taken away from us. When we worship a god who cannot stand. A FAKE GOD.
Even now, more than ever i realised that EVERYTHING can be this false god that is ruling our life.
So HOW DO WE KNOW who our God is?
One helpful hint is - who or what do you think of when you wake up in the morning? What is the thing that consumes most your thoughts (Paul washer - God's will for slaves sermon).
So who is our God?
For a much much more insight of this issue - please listen to the sermon that i've provided from Heart Cry titled God's will for slaves. It's one of the most helpful thing you can ever listen to.
