Kiss me goodbye

I've been thinking about friendships in general.

Sometimes in a person's life, there are times when they are close to just a person or a group of people. You get so close to those people that you want it to be forever. You want to keep it so badly that you'll do anything to make sure it stays for as long as you could.

I want to share with you this one song.

Most of the friendship quotes that I found on the net (great and trusted source yeah i know), suggests that friends are those who we must keep close together, those who don't want to part with us and we don't want to part with. "Friends are those who stick together despite change" - maybe i'm taking it too far - but hey... it's my blog ahahhaha

Anyway, this song just portrays what friendship is all about i guess (even though contextually - i'm taking this out of context ahahah). It is a song by a Jap singer Angela Aki - for a game called Final Fantasy. The song is called "Kiss me goodbye". Read it before I explain what the lyrics means to me

You say my love is all you need, to see you through
But I know these words are not quite true

Here is the path you're looking for, an open door
Leading to worlds you long to explore

Go, if you must move on alone
I'm gonna make it on my own

Kiss me good-bye, love's memory
Follow your heart and find your destiny
Won't shed a tear, for love's mortality
For you put the dream in my reality

As time goes by I know you'll see this of me:
I loved you enough to let you go free

Go, I will give you wings to fly
Cast all your fears into the sky

Kiss me good-bye, love's mystery
All of my life I'll hold you close to me

Won't she'd a tear for love's mortality
For you put the dream in my reality

Kiss me good-bye, love's memory
You put the dream in my reality
I love this song because it gives a glimpse of what "real-love" is, when she said "As time goes by I know you'll see this of me: I loved you enough to let you go free"

The tells of a story about a couple, they promised that they would be together till the end of time, until the other person has to go away (in the movie he died). The girl knew that eventhough the love that they had was not fake, she knows that she cannot keep it forever. She knows that she will one day have to part with him. But what I love with this song is that she said : "you put the dream in my reality."

I don't know what you make sense of that line "you put the dream in my reality" - but the way i see it, is that the other person had made our experience of the world so blessed that it turned reality into a dream.

This is just my thoughts on friendship and my ministry.

One day, I know that I have to let go of many of my friendships with people whom I love dearly. Somewhere within me, I feel that I am doing something that is wrong and quite mean. I'm giving up on relationships, and I hate parting with them.

But i put myself in the shoes of the boy in the song. I know I have a calling, I know that the things of this world is not going to last - and to work for His kingdom is greater than anything else in the world. Yes, true - God's love is all i need , even when I have no friends to stay beside me. But if I could ask one thing from God regarding a person/people that i love, is that so they can still love me when I'm gone. That they would understand that I have something to do, and that they too have things to strive for - and one day we must part our ways. But that does not mean that I don't love them to begin with , rather, because that is just how life is.

I love the quote from the book "purpose driven life" by Rick Warren (though I don't really particularly like the book..). He says that friends are just like flowers that you meet on the road - they are beautiful, they make your life more wonderful and worth living. but you cannot try to keep them forever, you must be able to part with them, let them grow. If you take the flower and put it in your pot, you might hinder its growth (pollination etc) or even worse, you might kill it.

Sometimes, we must be able to say goodbye to the people whom we love dearly. But don't let that be a hindrance for us to stop loving those people, for caring for them. We must keep in mind that we were made for a greater purpose than just to enjoy the view. We were made to grow, to expand and to do His will. To stop and focus on the lesser thing in life -makes a sad, very sad life.

Let us love our friends enough to say goodbye to them. To say we love them still even though they are apart. To love them as our brothers and sisters regardless of what the situation or condition is.

Maybe I'm not making sense.. but i pray that this will help those who are struggling with parting
