good works...
This is an article from ci hanv2 about good works... Worth the read... Worth to think about... and in a way remind us of how weak we are.
When i read the first line of the post "As evangelicals, we tend to be afraid of good works and social action." It made me think - are we really that hard-headed?! Are we so---- lazy, reluctant and missunderstanding of what the Gospel truly means? I'm not saying or encouraging anyone to believe in social-gospel, which focuses only on social works, but i am saying that the Gospel compells us to do social works.
But it's just funny to see how hard-headed (and hearted) people often are and how presistent they can be in arguing that we shouldn't do things that are Good and pleasing to God! We are more willing to use our brains on trivial matters like liturgy matters, songs picking, playing drama and poster competitions rather than asking about How we can glorify Him.
I want to invite us all to think about this - what is our faith based on? Is it based on us or God's gracious and wonderful love and salvation that we've received? I think this may solve our problems.
I believe that it is only when we know how much God has been gracious and loving to us that we can be gracious and loving to others. As simple as that
